BED BUYING FAQ's

Bed frames made from solid wood, metal or a combination of both are usually considered to be the most durable and long-lasting as they can hold more weight than cheaper frames. Always check your bed frame guarantee as it will advise on how long the manufacturer expects the bed frame to last.

1. Single: A single bed measures 90cm x 190cm (3’0’’ x 6’3’'). It’s designed to comfortably sleep one person, and is a great choice for children’s rooms or small bedrooms.

2. Small Double (Queen): A small double bed, also known as a queen bed, measures 120cm x 190cm (4’0’’ x 6’3’'). It’s a bit wider than a single bed, offering more space for the sleeper. It’s a good option for adults who have limited space but still want a comfortable bed.

3. Double: A double bed measures 135cm x 190cm (4’6’’ x 6’3’'). It’s designed to sleep two people, but it’s more compact than a king or super king bed. It’s a popular choice for couples who have a smaller bedroom.

4. King Size: A king size bed in the UK measures 150cm x 200cm (5’0’’ x 6’6’'). It offers plenty of space for two people to sleep comfortably, and is a popular choice for couples who want a spacious bed.

5. Super King Size: A super king size bed measures 180cm x 200cm (6’0’’ x 6’6’'). It’s the largest standard bed size, offering the most space for sleepers. It’s a great choice for couples who want maximum personal sleeping space.

The choice between a lower or higher bed depends on various factors such as your age, mobility needs, sleeping habits, bedroom style, and storage requirements. Usually, higher beds are recommended for people with mobility issues, while lower beds might make it more difficult. The thickness of your bed also needs to be considered, as it can significantly affect the overall height of your bed. Generally, a lower bed will make the space look bigger, but higher beds are ideal for more storage options.

The type of bed you choose can depend on various factors, such as your room size, aesthetic preference, and budget. Therefore, it’s impossible to recommend a specific type. Browse our selection of beds to find the perfect fit:

- Ottoman Beds – for extra storage options, suitable for smaller spaces.

- Four Poster Beds – ideal for large spaces and to make a statement.

- TV Beds – for the cinema enthusiasts. You can now binge-watch your favourite series from the comfort of your bed.

- Hotel Beds - bring the comfort of hotel beds directly into your home, with upholstered side tables and bedside lights.

You can also filter our selection by bed size and price to find a bed to suit your needs.

Normally beds should be replaced every 6 to 8 years. However, this is a general guideline as there are other factors that influence when you should replace your mattress, see below:

1. It’s negatively affecting your sleep

2. It’s noticeably saggy or damaged in certain areas

3. It’s making more noise than usual (noisy springs are common in old innerspring mattresses)

4. You notice an increase in allergies and/or asthma

5. You regularly wake up with muscle or joint stiffness

Essentially, you should replace your bed if it’s no longer helping you get restful sleep. Make the investment sooner rather than later.

1. Upholstered Headboards: Upholstered Headboards are often quieter due to the padding that absorbs noise.

2. Wooden and Metal Headboards: Wooden and metal headboards can be quiet if they are well-constructed and the joints are tight. They both can effectively support your mattress and cut down on squeaky noises.

Remember, the quietness of a bed frame can depend on its assembly and the materials used. A well-assembled, high-quality bed frame is less likely to make noise. Also, adding padding or upholstery to a headboard can help absorb sound and reduce noise.

Our bed frames can be returned within 28 days, reach out to customer services for returns and refunds. With our mattresses we offer a 101 Nights Sleep Trail beginning on the day the mattress is delivered. If you wish to return the mattress, please contact customer services (0333 777 8000) and they will arrange a collection day and send out a returns bag that the mattress must be packed in and sealed with tape. Please do not leave the mattress outside, as unfortunately we will not be able to take any items which have been damaged due to being left outside.

If the bed is in stock you can select your preferred delivery date at the time of purchase. Once your delivery is booked, we'll send reminders three days prior to your delivery date. Read our Large Furniture Delivery Guide for more information.
